The Zoomax® Snow 7 HD Plus is No Ordinary Video Magnifier

Consider a handheld video magnifier with speech function. What will this bring to visually impaired people?

Technological advances have greatly improved the lives of those who are visually impaired. From CCTV's, desk top magnifiers, portable video magnifiers and other handheld magnifiers to talking watches, money readers and more; the world has become bigger and better for those who struggle with vision loss.

Handheld portable magnifiers have made a significant difference in my life. For the first time in years, I could read my mail, prescription bottles, grocery labels and so much more without assistance.

Have you ever wondered what it is like to be out with your friends and always be dependent on them to read the menu to you or the bill? Portable handheld video magnifiers have helped me stay independent and have made my life easier.

One of my favorite features on my smart phone is the text-to-speech technology. This technology reads my email to me as well as text messages. It is a convenience that was not available a decade ago.

Recently Zoomax® released a new 7″ handheld video magnifier which is the first of its kind to utilize text-to-speech technology. I had the opportunity to speak with some of my friends who are also visually impaired and they are excited about this new technology which will allow them to read even when their eyes are fatigued.

When I spoke to Ilissa Clark from Pennsylvania about the new text-to-speech enhancement she was excited to hear about it. This is what she had to say:

"Oh wow. I didn't know handheld magnifiers had text to speech. I have and use a handheld video magnifier and love it. It is truly a life saver for me."

Ilissa Clark

"I have both a handheld magnifier and a handheld video magnifier. I would LOVE one that talked!!! My eyes get so tired and strained when i have to use them."

Debbie Schramm

"I would love that. It's hard to use the camera on the phone sometimes if you can't see at all because you have to hold the phone a little off to one side to get text in the shot and then keep it there while you take a photo. And even then, the software doesn't read everything as it should, whereas with a magnifying glass you would only have to hold it right over whatever you wanted to read. This is a brilliant idea!"

Joanne Flavell, from the United Kingdom

"I didn't know magnifiers with text to speech existed! This would be a life saver for me!!"

Charlee Jarvis

Every person I spoke to said it would help with eye strain and make their lives easier.

The Zoomax® Snow 7 HD Plus not only offers text-to-speech technology in over 20 languages but allows you to store up to 1,000 images that can be easily transferred to a PC or tablet.

The 13 mega-pixel camera that the Zoomax® Snow 7HD Plus touts also offers superb distance viewing, that most handheld magnifiers do not.

For convenience and comfort, there is also an optional swivel arm tailored for Snow 7 HD Plus which allows for no-tremble image freezing before text-to-speech which allows advanced comfort for writing and real-time viewing.
